The Wake Up Call

Have you used a wake up call service when you stayed at a hotel?  Why did you do that?  We all have cell phones with alarm clocks.  Plus all hotel rooms have alarm clocks in them.  I’m sure it’s because you would say, “just incase”.  Because the hotel is offering that service, it’s probably a better chance nothing will go wrong with that and they will actually wake you up in time.  In almost all the cases when I used this service, my phone alarm clock went off before the wake up call came in (both were for the same time).
Why am I even talking about wake up calls and alarm clocks? It’s because I wanted you to get into the mindset of the beginning of your day.  Without any doubt we know there are morning people and then there are not morning people. Which are you? I myself am not a morning person because I’m a night owl. In my line of work I productivity to be heightened in the evening hours.  I attribute this to many of my clients not working at that time and I’m able to work focused on projects without interruption for longer periods of time.
Back to the morning. Think about how you start your days, do you know what it is you need to accomplish each day you wake up, or do you fly by the seat of your pants.  The ol’ “fake it til you make it” mentality.  I’m not saying the latter is bad, I’m just wondering how to you measure if you’ve had a productive day, a day which you have achieve your goals.  The only way to measure anything is to have a unit of measurement.  Let me give you an example,
If you fly by the seat of your pants and you get two new clients you may end your day on a high saying “Wow, this was a very productive day”.  When in fact you may not have actually been productive.  A common confusion is between “productivity” & “progression”.  When we gain new clients in our business, this is considered “progression”, you are progressing your business further.  Being “productive” would be achieving tasks, creating products, fulfilling services.  When you have a to-do list these are tasks that lead to being productive.  Being productive leads to being progressive.  Think about this in your business, are you bring productive, progressive or both?
